I challenged myself to make 1 "impossible" render everyday for as long as I could, this quickly evolved into nodevember and then into the boxu project. It's an amazing learning experience.
2019-10-22 experimenting with the compositor and sculpting, areas which i don't really know that well
2019-10-23 drawing from a concept i had thought of a few days earlier. also experimenting with a mixture of subsurface scattering and translucent materials
2019-10-24 my idea for the next iphone
2019-10-25 experimenting with randomize transform
2019-10-26 longest render yet, three hours for just a few low-poly objects. the lightbulbs look like they have an emission shader slightly filtered by fresnel, but they are actually translucent and inside each of them there is a piece of emission tungsten
2019-10-27 on election day, i made a bunch of differently coloured balls that when looked through a magnifying glass are all the same colour
2019-10-28 by this point i had pretty much ran out of ideas, so i settle with saying the impossibility of this picture comes from the clumping fog
2019-10-30 an ugly human model covered by a metal cloth, surrounded by a furious ocean. didn't like this one very much, although the idea is nice, might re-do it later
2019-10-31 this was supposed to be a hammer breaking to bits when hitting a glass, but, as you can probably tell, it didn't turn out so well. either way, i like how it looks
a 3d version of that picture, to really see what's going on
2019-10-29 still proud of this one, made up of 3 different view layers composited together, all the lights in and outside the impossible box interact with each other
